Out of the Mouths of Tired Moms

"I want you in your room right. Now."

"Ugh! You don't love me!"

"Oh, yes, I love you very, very much. But right now, I'm not liking you a whole lot. But make no mistake about it, I love you. In fact, no matter how hideously you behave, if you were rolling your eyes at me on a train track and you were about to be run over, I would still push you out of the way. Even as the train rolled over me, crushing my body against the rails, I would still love you and be glad that it was me and not you. But I would be really bitter about it."

Did you set up video surveillance in my house? I had this conversation just last week when my son accused me of wishing he wasn't alive when I was pissed at him about his grades.

And off to their room they went ... can't argue with a mom squished on the train tracks.

This cracked me up!

I believe it has all the makings of a good country song.

Mom on, J.

Was this followed by stamping up the stairs and slamming the door?

Yes, I do think someone should set these words to music.

And you ARE the best mom, ever.

You would totally be justified in coming back and haunting them.

*gaffaw*!!

I told my daughter once 'I would die for you.' and she retorted 'Well so would I!!!!' to which I replied 'No you wouldn't, you are not allowed to'

'OK, you win' and she went to her room.

(Snort!) Love it! Sounds like my evening. I came into my office to find my PRECIOUS 3 year old had painted my computer monitor with nail polish, and permanent marker. Hubby was suppose to be watching her.... GRRRRRRRR!

But I do love her...

"... and before I died I would ground you for the next month, because I love you."

It's the bitter about it that counts. Otherwise, you're a pushover.

My mom always used to say "I'll always love you, but I don't always like you. And right now, I don't like you."

If my teen daughter were doing the eye-rolling thing? And the train were coming? I think I would at least hesitate for a second before I risked my life for hers. Just a second...

Oh yeah, I'd be bitter too. But would still push her out of the way. Chooooo, chooooo.

I tried this with my five year old last night when she was being stubborn and snarky.

It didn't work.

Any other ideas??? ;)
