So. What are you going to do today? It's Friday, no big surprise there. But as you all know, it's the 29th and we have an extra 24 hours of time today.
I'm looking at it as a way to get some things done and start one new thing.
Today I am:
doing some PTA work that will take a while (-3 hours)
Cleaning the laundry room (-1 hour)
Taking my first yoga class in nine years (-1 hour)
Making some calls that have sat on my to-do list (-2 hours)
Taking the kids on a hike (-2 hours)
Balancing the checkbook and doing some more financial work (-1 hour)
Catching up on some writing projects (-2 hours)
That's twelve "extra" hours - and that's how I'm looking at today. A day to reflect, a day to get things accomplished, and a day to set the pace for Spring, which is just around the corner.
Happy Leap Day - what will you do?

wow, I had never thought of it that way - a whole extra day! and since we are doing absolutely nothing today, I guess that I am wasting a perfectly good extra 12 hours. hmmm...
Right now, I'm contemplating locking myself in my bedroom and letting the children fight it out, a la Lord of the Flies. Hopefully I can find a happier way to spend the day before it ends.
Why am I at work?
I'm spending the day at work, looking forward to when I can go home and definitely looking forward to March and the promise of Spring. I have plans for March.
cooking and cleaning bathrooms :(
Happy it's the last day of Feb and looking forward to SPring!!!
:)
I'm doing laundry and packing...which is fine, but I would have loved to have gone on a hike with the kids, like you're planning. It's a lovely day here, and the sun is shining.
Hope you enjoy your hike, and everything else gets accomplished on this 'extra' day!
Happy weekend - Heidi
I'm going to the dentist - damn.
What a great outlook Jen!
I would've been thinking, "I have this extra day and look how much of it's already eaten up!". I'm learning good things from you.
My extra day is chock full of many of the same activities. Maybe we should hire some staff to do both of our lists and go to the spa all day instead??
good gravy, you are far too productive. i took a wee nap, read, spent time (ahem) with my husband this morning, tried to mow the lawn, hope to pick up a bit, and have a performance tonight.
I'll be doing the "it's really March 1st" like I do when the time changes in the spring and fall ... "it's really 10:00"
Messes with my body clock, lol!
well for my extra day, we went out and got some milk. Exciting I know.... but I'm gearing up for Little Man's nap pretty soon, so you know, I'll have a bit of quiet soon. And trying to stay awake, so lots of coffee in my future.
Good gried, pace yourself! You are getting far too much done in one day, even if it is technically and extra day.
I'm doing pretty much the same thing I did yesterday. And the day before that.
Today I have begun a rigorous sobriety program to attempt to cure my four year old of his internet addiction. So far so good!
i tend to be happy if i get just ONE of those things on your list done in a day, extra or not.
i am, however, contemplating exactly what the fairly odd mother said...
I'm spending the day bitterly wishing it was March already....
I spent the day cleaning up barf. My kids have the flu.
Goodbye, February! Don't let the door hit you on the butt on the way out!
Racquetball! YAY!
I'm done doing for the day. Now I'm just blogging!
I've spent the day getting ready to move tomorrow. Fun, huh!
I spent the day doing things that make me happy; I've been blue lately.
So I played with my son. I continued reading one of my favorite novels. I went grocery shopping (which really truly did make me happy...the cupboards were bare). I watched a few episodes of M*A*S*H, my all-time favorite sitcom. And my husband was home before 10:00 pm, so I actually got to see him for a bit!
It was a good day.
Crap. I missed it. Spent it like any other work day. Sigh-h-h.
Geez, I really should have looked at it that way. Instead I just did my normal "Friday" stuff. Blech.
Honestly...didn't even realize that it was an "extra day" of sorts until I read your blog. I spent the afternoon with friends (I usually never get an afternoon free), so it really was a special day!!
Waded through 10,000 photos---just 15,000 to go! And you think I'm kidding!
